SIX DAYS HAVE PASSED

It will be a week tomorrow since the surgery on my hand. I never realized how much I would be handicapped without the use of my right hand. I can't open anything, can't fix my hair, can hardly put on my clothes and worst of all I am unable to do any art. Tuesday I get the stitches out and hopefully will go to a brace but the doc tells me no repetitive motion (whatever that means) for 4-6 weeks. For right now I am not to even use my fingers.

My dear husband tried to curl my hair but failed miserably. He has otherwise been taking very good care of me. It is the pits not to be able to do the smallest things.....like butter my toast.

I am so anxious to get back to work and back to creating. My mind has been going wild with ideas and I want to get started doing something.

THANKS to Tracie for taking care of class proposals....See why I love my dear daughter-in-law?

THANKS to Jane Eileen and Susan Moore for keeping our INchie group creating those marvelous one inch pieces of art - I have the GREATEST Yahoo group!!! Love you all!!

Marylin....I can't believe you could write a comment on my blog with your hand. So sorry. You are so sweet and so funny! I had so much fun laughing with you at AU last year. Have fun this year and with all the other retreats you will be doing! Heal soon! Hey, maybe you can do some crazy art with your non dominant hand for the time being!
peace

I hope everything's OK with your arm, I don't think I could cope not being able to do some kind of art I remember as a child I broke my left arm and when it mended, I started to write and draw with it (not very well I might add) just in case I broke my right one.
Have a very art filled and successful 2009

Hi Marylin,

I wish you a speedy recovery! This sounds really bad. I am quite glad that I am sort of both-handed, that helps a little.
So my best wishes that everything will go back to normal as soon as possible.

Marylin,
Thank you for your comment on my blog!
When I came to visit yours, I felt so terrible to see your hand all bandaged up!! How terrible not to be able to do artwork, and so many other things!
From other recent posts, I feel that you are avery warm and uplifting person. Take it easy as your hand heals! Be well!

I feel for you, at least this time I no longer have bandage, dressing or plaster on my arm, just the metal fixature to hold all in place. I can go in the shower but brushing long hair is a nightmare. A grippy rubbermat helps keep plates in place and a small plastic spatula replaces aknife to spread butter etc.
sleeping with the arm elevated is a nightmare!
Hold on in there xx

Ouch! Reading about your hand, your surgery and your challenges give a deeper meaning to the word "generosity," Marylin. You have revealed your heart. Your comment was appreciated when I read it, but now has a richer meaning after visiting you.

Thanks for your visit, so that I could find you. A speedy recovery to you. I'm sure you'll collect inspiration over the next few weeks, and you will be bursting to create when you're free to. Happy New Year!

When I couldn't use my right hand, I found I could machine quilt by using the arm as a weight to hold things in place. It is a pain to be without either hand. Hang in there. Thanks for visiting my blog.

No problem helping out with the inchie swap. I love doing it. I hope you like the inchies we are making for you, and more importantly that you're back in full swing soon.
